It is ten years ago now, when the Balloon Company visited the Magic land of Mongolia. I tried to find traces of our visit, but things change fast here....
The main reason for our visit was the erection of Popke's version of the 'Ulzii', the unofficial national symbol, in front of the State Departement Store, as you face the circus. Halas, due to improper finish by the Mongolian contractor, it crumbled and fell over two years later...
Here's what it looks like now, and how it could have looked...
(Pass over the picture with the cursor).

For those who have been to Mongolia:
The fountain really works!!!
This is all that remains of our great undertaking...
An empty fundament.
In case anybody wants to go, and build it again:
The fundament is approx 1.40 mtr square, 2.00 mtr diagonal.
I visited also the Naramdal-park, where we pitched our camp, it currently looks like this.
There are plans to 'develop' the park over winter, which in Mongolia means that it will be full of appartment high-rises next year...
ISome vieuws, move over the pictures to see more..
Imagine, there is even water in the pond, and people rowing around in inflatables..
It is quite a change since we have been here: The city is full of brand-new four-wheel-drives, including hummers. Every possible corner has been built full of high-rise-buildings, or they're at it.
Traffic-jams are continious, since the city, which was laid out for 200.000 people, now holds about 1.100.000...
There are 90.000 ger, and 90.000 cars registered in the city.
